Toll Brothers Asst Purchasing Mgr Houston
The Asst Purchasing Manager position is responsible for supporting the improvement of cost control and negotiating the price paid for materials and installation labor. In this capacity, the individual will work closely with national and regional suppliers, local subcontractors and distributors to continuously find opportunities for negotiating costs throughout the supply chain. This role will assist the purchasing manager and the local Ops division with new community start up and contracting. This role will also serve as a resource (eyes and ears) of the corporate National Purchasing team, supporting Division profit making endeavors.
What are the primary responsibilities?
-Develop profitable pricing strategies. Recommend strategic sourcing strategies to lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) • Keep track of local industry trends on product choices and keep track of local unit pricing in each market • Fulfill unit price “unbundling” strategy
-Apply national strategies to local market, unbundling labor and material pricing
-Facilitate a collaborative environment with subcontractors, distributors and manufacturers that result in greater cost visibility and mutual success • Take action to leverage spend, especially with subcontractors • Perform financial analysis of division impact of new and existing subcontracts • Determine financial health of subcontractor, warn others of potential problems • Analyze total spend by: Trade Category, Supplier, Community, etc. to identify opportunities to leverage spending for greater savings • Supply Chain Optimization
-Ensure purchasing strategy is in alignment with corporate supply chain strategy
-SKU optimization, SKU demand planning Determine optimum product specifications and assure there is alignment with corporate and regional agreements Reduce overall SKU usage in order to reduce cost, administrative burden and increase procurement accuracy • Enable JIT manufacturing and JIT deliveries
-Develop understanding of subcontractor’s cost drivers • Supplier Relationship Management
-Manage relationships with local distributors, manufacturers and subcontractors
-Leverage technology and process integration to approach JIT mfg, JIT deliveries
-Measure subcontractor performance, track and counsel
-Drive cost saving strategies through value engineering, new business processes and streamlining procedures
-Support field personnel with new community planning and set-up through identification of community requirements, timing, vendor selection, validation and contracting
-Act as an intermediary with new subcontractors and field staff to maintain quality standards of production and cost effectiveness
