Stonefield Homes is currently seeking a Purchasing Manager with previous management experience from a production home builder to manage all company Purchasing Department activities.

Job Details:


 As Purchasing Manager, you will:


  • Maintain and enforce standardization of internal plan designs, construction starts, permits, and contract             processes and procedures. 
  • Obtain and analyze quotes; negotiate, prepare, execute, and maintain production (labor and materials) contracts and the required insurances with various construction subcontractors and vendors. 
  • Ensure that material takeoffs are correct and complete.
  • Establish service level needs and evaluation criteria for building products, subcontractors, and material suppliers.
  • Source new and better products, subcontractors, and material suppliers.
  • Maintain Scopes of Work for all construction phases.
  • You will keep job-related knowledge up to date (such as environmental and energy requirements, windstorm construction, competitive items, etc.); and study material and labor market trends. 
  • Additionally, you should expect to perform a margin analysis on all jobs to ensure profit goals are met and to identify areas for controlling and reducing costs. You will create and implement new or better processes for quality and cost-effectiveness and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for the entry into the reporting system of job specific pricing and issuance of initial purchase orders.
  • Responsible that plans, specifications, scope of works and current house budgets (to include standard and non-standard options) are included in the Builder “Start” packages.
  • Monitor and report (on a regular basis) on subcontractors and material increases/decreases.
  • Monitor and report (on a regular basis) on construction costs by plan.
  • You are willing to perform other duties as assigned.

You have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years’ management experience in a Purchasing/Estimating Department with a production home builder (required).
  • Strong leadership abilities, not just management abilities.
  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes is critical.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Experience conducting bid analysis and bidding procurement.
  • Experience in estimating.
  • Must be proficient in BRIX applications.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • An orientation towards detail and accuracy in your calculations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to be a team player, to multitask, and to see projects through to completion.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • A willingness to learn.
